Bioaugmentation
Bioaugmentation involves the introduction of cultivated micro-organisms to enhance the biological remediation or purification of contaminated water or soil.
Biological wastewater treatment systems require proper seeding with selected micro-organisms during system start-up or during periods of unforeseen malfunctioning that requires system restart.
Although bioaugmentation is commonly used, many products are available to clients to be applied on a trial-and-error basis due to a lack of proper technical support. There is also scientific evidence that certain bioaugmented organisms are not always effectively multiplying after introduction to a treatment system.
Dekker Envirotech is continuously investigating new product formulations and also has its own controlled production facility to cultivate certain strains of indigenous micro-organisms to ensure that tailor-made formulations can be applied properly. The advantage is that we can recommend appropriate products with associated technical support towards effective and economical bioaugmentation.
